Visiting my daugher..."At WORK!"...
Ever since I told my daughter about "the aunt she never knew she had" she has been so accepting of it all. We have enjoyed going out shopping and out to the movies and just having a lot of fun. Even for the first time she met me dressed, she thought it was no big deal for me to pick her up from school, and for me to go to the office to have her paged! How's that for an accepting daughter???
Saturday, February 28, 2004, was the wedding social for our friends Reece & Liz, and some of the Girls of Masquerade were going. So, after getting dressed, weaing my red pleather mini skirt, black high heeled boots, a black long sleeved T-shirt and my jacket, I stopped at the donut shop my daughter worked at!
Now just a few short years ago, I couldn't even walk into a convenience store in another city, let alone my daughter's workplace. It is amazing how things change. I've visited her many times as "Dad", yet it was amazing how comfortable it was to be meeting her co-workers, wearing a mini skirt!! I talked with a few, and got directions to where the Bulman Centre was at the University of Winnipeg. Since it was busy, we really didn't have much time to visit, so got my ussual, an "Iced Cap with chocolate milk" and off I went!
It is such a wonderful feeling to have a daughter and others accept me as I sometimes want to be accepted, leaving me free to be myself, however I choose to express myself that day! My girlfriend still hasn't accepted this side of me, and so far, is the only person in my life who seems to have a problem with it! So for now, I still keep Sabrina separate from her.
Thanks for reading my story,
Sabrina
