Sabrina "At WORK again!"... June 1, 4, 5, 6, 8 & 10, 2003

Now that summer is well on it's way, it's time for Mary of Lady Godiva Boutique to have her "clearance sale". And that means an opportunity to help out with her sidewalk sale. I had such a blast last year! As it turned out, when Mary started her sale, I got sent out of town to Brandon for work, leaving me 200 kilometers and a 2 hour drive away from all the fun<pout>

It turned out that I had Sunday off, and so "Just what is there for a girl to do in Brandon??" Well.. "Get pretty and drive to Winnipeg!!" So I did. Sunday morning I got up, got dressed in my black pleather mini, a nice print top and heels and off I went. Of course my first stop just had to be at Seven Eleven for my morning coffee, then off I went, enjoying the two hour drive to Winnipeg. I used to love my long drives en fem, and since I now have a real destination, they are even more enjoyable now:-)

I got to Lady Godiva Boutique about 12:20 PM and met Mary and her staff. They had the tables all set out like last year, so all I had to do was "Start Work! The day was bright and sunny with little wind, so it was a "Good Hair" day! I realy enjoyed being out in the sun, talking with passers by, telling them of all the great specials inside the store.

Then Mary came out and asked it I would like to go to Seven Eleven for her! "Would I?" Of course! So off I went down the sidewalk, my heels clicking loudly and proudly. At the store I made my selection, then stood in line at the checkout, paid for my purchase and headed back to the store! Such a thrill. Yet only two and a half short years ago, doing anything like that was still a dream I never thought I'd ever realize come true!

At the end of the day, we packed up and I headed back out to Brandon. It sure was a long way to drive for 5 hours of public "girl time", but god was it worth it!!

My next day off was Wednesday, June 4, 2002, so I spent the day working at Mary's store again. I wore my green blouse, black leather mini skirt and heels, and this time I remembered to bring the camera!! Another sunny day, perfect for a girl "Working the sidewalk!" (gee, did that sound right<LOL>) Angela and Lisa, both in guy-mode, visited the store, so we had nice chats too.

And again I was off on another mission. This time I walked first to PharmaPlus, to buy film for the camera, then to Seven Eleven for soft drinks and back to the store again! Picture time!

Tuesday, June 10, 2003, was another day off from the "day-job", and a "get pretty" day to go to work! I wore my navy blouse, real leather mini skirt and heels, and got to Mary's store at 2 PM! Wouldn't you know it. She had an errand for me to run*S*. (She knows I can't resist) So off I went walking down the street, in broad daylight on a busy sidewalk, with my heels clicking loud and proud, and headed for PharmaPlus to make photocopies! Such a wonderful experience. The people in the store were all friendly too*S*. You can imagine my smile as I walked back to the store!

The afternoon, for the most part, was very pleasant. And it was especialy nice to have my "Fan Club" pass by a few times. Seems the crew from the local firehall have taken an interest in Mary's sale, and seem to circle the block to pass by a few times in a row, to check out the tables as the drive by. However, they always seem to be looking at me and waving, instead of checking out the tables! Mmm, or could they simply be checking me out<giggle>.

However, there are some nuts in this world. Earlier, a carfull of guys had passed by and hollered out some "cat calls", then a while later I noticed them down the block looking toward the store. They passed by a few times more, this time, yelling out the window "F$#@ing Faggot". Well, they must have been talking to someone else, because there were no "faggots" as they put it, in the area as far as I could tell, and since I consider myself straight, they were obviously incorrect.

See, people who don't take the time to learn about what is realy going on in the world, are in reality, stuck in their own "little" world. With their own "hang ups" about life. And perhaps, then selves, worried about being though of as "faggots", have to take on this behaviour to take all suspicion away from themselves. Some guys are just so insecure about themselves. Yet, we, the crossdressers in the world, and everyone for that matter, who accept ourselves as who we are, are realy well ahead of the rest of the population!

I wasn't bothered by these guys and their immature comments, since I am happy with myself and that is realy all that maters. Yet when it became apparent that these guys wouldn't let it go, and began yelling their comments from the streetside window of the neighbouring apartment building, it was time to put a stop to it, as I didn't want it to continue and bring the undesirable attention to Mary's store.

I just want to say, that with working at Mary's store for last year's sale and this years sale, probably a total of ten days, with hundreds of people passing the store each day, litteraly thousands in total, it was only these three guys who reacted in a negative way, because "THEY" had a problem dealing with it. During the time working the sidewalk at Mary's store, I've talked with hundreds of men, women, mothers, fathers, teenagers, and even little kids, and found everyone to be very accepting. I've even had little kids look at me and tell their moms "Wow! She's pretty" (gotta love kids).

Have I been "Read" working at Mary's store?" Yes, or course. However, because people don't "react", it is hard to read them, to see who is figuring it out or not. And even those who have read me have carried on as normal afterward, as if nothing was "out of the ordinary".

Yet in this world, there are those, like those three guys who have real problems with things they don't understand. And instead of asking questions, finding out about things, they jump to conclusions. Here they figured they were looking at what they refered to as a "Faggot", and yet I even fooled them too, since in reality, I am simply a heterosexual crossdresser!!! The JOKE is on them!

Before I close, I want to comment on the gay/lesbian and transgendered community. Before I began venturing out into the world as Sabrina, I never really had that much contact with the community, and didn't have much of an understanding myself. However, venturing out as Sabrina, I have met many people in the gay/lesbian and transgendered community and have to say, that as human beings, I believe that the community has evolved well above the rest of the world when it comes to people having respect for another human being. That's it. Period! The rest of the world could learn from it.
