An Evening Out With Diane - March 31, 2005
When Diane sent me an e-mail saying she would be visiting Winnipeg the week of March 27, 2005, that only meant one thing....A GIRLS NIGHT OUT!
After getting together for dinner after her arrival on Monday, which was a guy-mode thing, we made plans for an evening out on Thursday, March 31, 2005. As it turned out, since I spent Tuesday evening with my daughter, and worked late on Wednesday, Thursday was it!
Luck seemed to be going my way and I was finnished work early, around 4 PM, so I had time to stop and visit with Mary at Lady Godiva Boutique. Since I don't have the opportunity to change at home, I took the opportunity to get cleaned up at Mary's, leaving only the changing amd makeup part to be done in my van.
After leaving Lady Godiva I ran into another little hic up. I had to deposit a cheque in the bank and couldn't find my bank card! Yuk! Here I was, going to be early, and not I had this to deal with. Luckily there was a branch open nearby so for once in a ton of years Ihad to go to the teller!
With some cash now in hand it was time to "Get Pretty". I found my ussual parking lot nad got to work. I know it sounds crowded, and it is, but it is what I've had to do since my GF of 8 years just isn't open to any discusion on hte subject.
I was ready just after 8 PM, wearing my red leather mini skirt, boots and a long sleeved top. All I had to do was paint my nails and go pick up Diane at her hotel! Diane was dressed a little "conservative', wearing jeans, a nice lime top, boots and her jacket. And absolutely gorgeuos long blond hair!
Since Lady Godiva Boutique was open until 9 PM and Mary was working the late shift we made that our first stop. We visited with Mary and of course just had to take a few pictures! I just love the full length mirror Mary has in her store. So much so I did the above picture in it:-) Mary had other plans for after work so she wasn't able to join us so off we went on another adventure.
Sabrina & Mary
Diane & MaryAs we were already on Corydon Avenue, we drove past Kristina's On Corydon, an upscale restaurant. The restaurant appeared quite busy so we kept right on going. We took a tour through downtown Winnipeg, and all the way west on Portage Avenue, passing the Paradise Restaurant, The Keg, Perkins and many others before deciding we'de head back to Kristina's On Corydon. Oh well. At least we were having fun!
We found parking a block away on Corydon Avenue, the same block as Lady Godiva Boutique, and enjoyed feeling the cool night air as we walked down the sidewalk towards teh restaurant. Once inside the waitress told us they were only serving dessert at this hour yet we decided to stay anyway. The waitress told us to pick any table we liked as it was no longer busy with only four other tables occupied.
Once we were settled the waitres came and took our order...Apple Pie of course! She was all smiles and we didn't get much attention from the rest of the patrons which made it such a wonderful experience. To simply go out and enjoy like, wearing a mini skirt and heels! Settings like this are a nice atmosphere for conversation, where you don't have to yell across the table! And the best part...we were out at an everyday place and being accepted at face value.
After leaving Kristina's On Corydon we made our way to Gio's and found parking in front of the building on Smith Street. Diane wanted to call home so I got out my van to give her some privacy. Although she said it was ok to stay inside, I just wanted more "Sidewalk Time". Besides, getting whistled at or honked at is such a thrill.
As we made our way into Gio's the door-girl asked if I wanted to buy a membership, which is something I have been meaning to do anyway, so I jumped at the chance to help support the night club. There were exotic dancers on the dance floor and quiet a crowd had gathered, so we stopped at the bar first, then made our way to a quiet table away from the music. Not as quiet as the restaurant, but we were still able to have a nice chat and enjoy the evening catching up on this and that, and planning what wold be fun to do on future outings. You know, just like real girls!!! We left sometime after mid-night and since we both had to work the next day it was time to drive Diane back to her hotel.
Thanks for reading my story,
Sabrina
