Hanging out with a Movie Star! - "In the Movies with Nikki" January 18, 2003
On Saturday, January 18, Nikki, from Regina, was in Winnipeg with a television crew. She is part of a documentary "Sex Lives" which will be aired this August on Life Network. She is one of four video chat hosts they are doing the story on, and wanted to include the girls of Masquerade for segment of a "Night on the town!" We had talked about this for some time and just had to work out a date! So Saturday was it!!
I was so excited about the prospect of being on "television"! I wore a new red sweater, my "regulation" mini skirt, black hose and my new boots! Shandi and her wife Charm, along with Vannesa and I met in the lobby of Nikki's hotel about 7:30 and went up to her room. After knocking, there was a hesitation, then when she opened the door, three she was, all decked out in leather, with a television crew behind her with the cameras rolling!! After a little "meet and greet", we had to do it all over again! With the cameras rolling again inside the door, then from the hallway! Well, that's show-biz!
We all had to sign a release form allowing us to be on camera. Now one
might think I'd be nervous about that, but I couldn't sign fast enough!
Right away though, the crew pointed out, that we didn't have to give them
our real name, that they would use our fem names in any credits, but it
did have to be our signature to be legal. I was cool with that to, since
my sig is so messy anyway!
Since we had time before the club, we headed off to Denny's for dinner!
The crew didn't do any filming at Denny's, since it all required contracts
with the businesses involved, like the hotel, and later Club 200, where
they did have permision and releases signed. Kinda gives you a new look
on what goes on behind the scenes when we watch a program on the boob tube.
It's not just walking around with a camera! So there we were, five girls,
including Charm (Shandi's wife) and the camera crew! There were other customers
in the restaurant, families with children, and not one bad feeling.
Let me back up a bit. When I go out, although I do tend to wear mini skirts, I believe I don't go too overboard. A mini, a sweater and nice boots. That's a "blend in" look as far as I am concerned. However, Nikki was sitting at the head of the table with her legs crossed, her leather skirt riding up her thighs showing the world the tops of her stockings and garters!! (I admit, she turned me on, not to mention the "DAD" sitting over at the next table!) Now I gotta beat that look some day!*S*
After the dinner, off to Club 200 we went. Following the camera crew into
the building! We didn't get in too far when staff caught the crew at the
door wanting to know what "station" they were from. However, since this
had all been pre-arranged with the owners, everything was cool.
Again it felt like we were with a movie star. The camera was on Nikki most of the time she was in the club, dancing, talking with people and meeting the drag queens. Oh, it was also Joan Costalotsa's birthday, and there was a drag show that evening too! All this going on, with Nikki being on camera, with the crew running around doing their thing. one Nikki talked with on camera.
We didn't leave till they closed the bar, then off we went back to Nikki's hotel! Camera crew and all. We all got some camera time to say a few words with Nikki. And I have to be honest, I didn't want to go home! I'll be sure and post on my web site when the show will air!
Nikki has told me the show is now airing periodically on the "Life Network" with the title "Sex Lives In Cyber Space". However, none of the footage shot during her time with us was used on the show.<Major Pout>
