Out & About in Winnipeg with "Diane from B. C.".....

SabrinaWay back in the fall of 2000 I met Diane in the "TG Chat" chat room and finaly got to meet her in person about a year later. Since then I always look forward to her few visits to Winnipeg each year. I remember all my years on the road traveling on business and having "alone time"in the evenings and know just how special it is to have friends you can relate to to spend time with.

I kinda felt guilty when during her last visit in July, 2004, that I was not feeling well enough to go out for some girl time with her, so when she wrote to say she was coming back to Winnipeg on Monday, August 16, 2004, I looked forward to her visit and started planning my outfit :-)

We got together on Tuesday evening and just hung around in guy-mode, doing a little shopping, searching for that perfect accessory or outfit. I found a realy nice red blouse at Vallue Village and Diane found a few nice tops too. Feeling like the shopping trip was a success (although I'd much rather have been out in a mini skirt and heels) we stopped at Tubby's on Stafford Street for pizza before I dropped Diane off at her hotel.

I was working out of town on Wednesday, August 18, 2004, and was able to make it back into Winnipeg by around 6:30 PM. I had planned on wearing my white leather mini skirt and heels but with the weather being so cold and windy it just didn't seem like an evening for "summer colors". So I chose my black leather mini skirt, red long sleeve top and heels!

Since I don't shave my legs in the summer, I had to put on 4 pairs of beige pantyhose to cover my legs. I found that 3 pairs of Safeway brand "All Purpose" hose with a pair of Safeway brand "Stimu Legs" hose works perfect!! And to be quite honest, when I first tried it, I thought it would be so hot! Yet I realy don't feel much difference. There isn't much to the all purpose hose yet there is enough to cover the hair. And the way I look at it is, if I feel good enough to walk through the mall in my mini skirt then it's good enough for me!

I got to Diane's hotel about 8:45 PM and parked my van. Diane was wearing capri pants, sexy sandals and a leopard print top and of course her jacket. After all, this was August and it was only 10 C out!! She had a rented Cadilac and thought it would be cool for us to cruise the city in style! Just as every girl should, I got into the vehicle with grace and style, sitting first and swinging my mini skirted legs into the vehicle:-) GOD It is so much fun being a part-time girl! I admit, it was kinda nice not to have to be watching the road, although I played the part of navigator, giving Diane directions...turn left 300 meters <LOL>! Diane had previously showed me her GPS Gizmo Gadget that when you program in a destination, it actualy "Tells you where to go!" Mmm...An automatic "Back Seat Driver"<LOL>

Diane wanted to check out the new place in town, Desire on Main Street, and since I didn't know if it was open Wednesday's we drove by the place and YUP, it was closed. So we wound up at Gio's which at 9:30 was kinda dead. Diane was looking for something a little more livelier so we left and in our travels throught to stop at The Fat Angel Bistro on Main Street, since we saw the "Open" sign was lit in the window. So after parking on St. Mary Avenue we walked to Main Street enjoying the cool night air, not to mention the thrill of having the guys checking us out as they drove by in their cool cars:-)

The Fat Angel Bistro closed at 9:30 PM! Oh well, we just decided to go to Club 200 so off we went walking down Winnipeg's sidewalks, two girls out on the town, or rather out trying to find the town to go out on <LOL>Another block and we got back into Diane's Cadilac, drove one short block, turned and parked in front of Club 200! Hardly worth the trip to drive that far, but it was fun to be getting in and out of the Cadilac in my mini skirt and heels!

Club 200 was a little busier so after we got our drinks we made our way to a table and enjoyed the evening catching up on all the gosip in the chat room where we had met almost 4 years ago! And of course it was time for more pictures!

We left the club around 11:00 PM and stopped at the Manitoba Legislature for MORE pictutres! There were some staffmembers in the parking lot chatting away as we stopped at the main entrance and started snapping pictures.

While we were snapping away the Province of Manitoba security van stopped at the entrance and the passenger got out entering the building without giving us a second look. I kinda thought that was odd, considering I was standing on HIS steps in a leather mini skirt!!

On the way back to Diane's hotel we just had to get some pics of us with her Cadillac! So we stopped in the CIBC parking lot at Emrpess Street and Ellice Avenue under a bright light, perfect for our shots! While we were standing there planning our pics, we spotted a Winnipeg Police cruiser pass by, then come back a moment later and enter the parking lot! It was the K-9 Unit and the officer stopped by where we were parked and when he saw us bothe standing there holding our cameras he commented "Oh, you are doing a modeling shoot."! I replied that we had just stopped to take some pictures and he simply smiled, said "OK" and he was on his way! That was so sweet...He thought we were "Damsels in Distress!

We do live and learn. Five years ago if I had seen a police car when I was out and about on one of my late evening drives it would have scared the heck out of me, fearing the worst! Like whe I first got stopped by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police durung a late night drive in 1987 Yet now I have a much better understanding of myself and know that I am just "Being who I am" and that it really is "OK" to dress as I do. Plus, when it comes to the "police", having Sargent Ron Johannson of the Winnipeg Police Service come out to talk to our Masquerade group and confrim for everyone that we are doing nothing wrong, that sure helped put everyone's mind at ease.

As it neared midnight we got back to Diane's hotel and said our good byes. We really didn't want our "girl time" to end. However, it was a work night and the morning does come early. And we do need our "Beauty Rest" :-)
