"Girls Night Out" to the Movies and Gio's - November 4,, 2006
For the Masquerade "Girls Night Out" on Saturday, November 4, 2006, I was fortunate to have the house all to myself. Since my GF is not accepting I usually just get ready in my van. I've done that for so long it just feels normal yet on this weekend she was out of town for the weekend giving me some much needed freedom to simply get dressed at home and go out for the evening!
I was off work early enough to have a nice relaxing evening, much different than I'm used to when doing girl stuff at home while my girlfriend is at work. Jumping at every little sound thinking she's coming home early from work, which has happened before.
Even though the colder wearing is here, hovering around the freezing mark, I still wear my mini skirts and for this outing I chose my red leather skirt with a black body suit and boots. Feeling so good about getting dressed at home I just had to get a few pictures. It felt like a dream because I knew it wasn't going to be an everyday event, once my GF gets back. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
By 8:30 PM I was ready and leaving all my guy stuff behind I left to pick up Rhiannon, looking forward to a fun evening that I wouldn't have to rush home afterward from. This evening was going to be especially relaxing, knowing I wouldn't have to change before I got home either, which is something that is always depressing when on my way home after an outing when my GF is at home!
After I picked up Rhiannon we made a stop so she could use a bank machine and arrived at the Grant Park theater around 9:45 PM. Finding a parking spot in the lot, some distance from the door, we made our way to the theatre. As always, I loved the feel of the cool night air on my legs, and yes enjoyed the few looks I got from some of the guys walking past!
Rhiannon and I met Chantal and Vanessa inside the mall and sat with them while we waited for Shandi, Charm and their daughter. It neared 10:00 PM we figured we had better get our tickets so we made our way into the theater and bought our tickets to see Robin William's movie, Man Of The Year. Shandi, Charm and their daughter arrived while we were getting our drinks and we all made our way into the theater.
As I sat there in the theater, in my leather mini skirt, I reflected on how much has changed in my life since my first time out in 2001 with the sweet guy I had met in TG Chat. On my first evening out in real public we had gone to the movies an yes, I was wearing a mini skirt and heels. And now it is so terrific to have girlfriends to get together with and do all these fun things. Just like everyone else/ Or is it everyone else does the same things we do? Either way it is a wonderful feeling of simply being a part of and accepted as we are in mainstream society.
After the movie we met in the mall and of course got a picture!!!

Shandi, Sabrina, Chantal, Vanessa & RhiannonShandi and Charm left with their daughter, making it an early evening, then Chantal, and Vanessa wanted to change into something "Sexier" for the bar, so they left with Rhiannon. I had to stop nearby to drop off some paperwork, plus, I had made plans to pick up Suzie, a girl from Saskatchewan that I had been chatting with. She had arrived in Winnipeg as planned so off I went to pick her up.
It felt like it always does when meeting a new "sister". Like we've known each other for years. For something that may not be the most comfortable thing to deal with at home or when trying to keep it from family friends and neighbors, it is amazing how great it feels to meet what is really a stranger. Yet in a way, why I believe it is so comfortable is that we know each other so much more than we could ever hope family or friends to know us, because we share much of the same feelings that we've never shared with those close to us
I was so happy that it worked out that there was an outing planned to Gio's on the night Suzie was going to be in Winnipeg and yes, she was happy to have a place to go out! After a quick stop at a bank machine we arrived at Gio's just before 1:00 AM! It was Gio's Womyn's Night and the place was packed! Loud music, lots of dancing and of course a long line at the coat-check!
We got our drinks and simply enjoyed the evening out with the girls. I introduced Suzie to Chantal, Vanessa and Rhiannon when they arrived, and we had a great time chatting with each other and other patrons. I'm sure Suzie enjoyed herself too. She even got in a dance or two on the crowded dance floor! Might as well since it was like standing room only in the place!
We left well after the bar closed, although he dancing was still in full swing and I drove Suzie back to were she had to go, then drove Rhiannon home since it was on my way. Not at this point I usually have to find a place to park and change before I could co home. Tonight was different. I had the house to myself and I didn't have to end my wonderful evening doing that stressful thing - removing my face! I always hate that part and often wish my girl-time lasted longer, even after an outing. This evening was different. not "rushing" to get ready, rushing to spend time at the event, rushing to change back and rushing to get home.
Even once I got home getting ready for bed was relaxing.... I didn't even had to remove my nail polish and that would help make the next day even more relaxing since I was picking up my daughter for an afternoon of SHOPPING!
