Dining out at "The Fat Angel Bistro"

On Tuesday, January 15, 2002, the Masquerade group got together for a dinner at the Fat Angel Bistro! The staff are terriffic there, and close the restaurant for us, so every member would feel comfortable enjoying an evening out on the town :-)

Like most times, I got dressed in my van, and was ready by 7:15*S* I wore my favorite black mini skirt, beige hose and pumps, a wine T-shirt and my black blazer! That outfit looked very nice, like playing "office girl"*S* I felt terrific and so excited about meeting the girls.

I got to the Fat Angel Bistro at about 7:45, and parked about a block away. It wasn't too cold out, -15 Celsius, and with no wind and a light snowall, it felt wondeful walking the block to the building. On Main St., I might add. A few years ago, I would have been scared to death!

The restaurant had told Natalie, who arranged the dinner, that they close the restaurant to the public for private parties, so it was only us girls there. Shandi, Vanessa, Edwina, Donna, Annette, Natalie, Lisa, Ardra, Martina, Angela, and Christine. It was fun meeting Christine and having nice chat with a GG at the table. I ordered "Chicken Savana", which was a wonderful chicken dish, with rice and vegetables. It is realy fun doing girl stuff, like having to tie my hair back so I'm not eating it<LOL>!

During dinner, a large group walked in off the street and stood waiting to be seated. They were disappointed when the waitress told them the restaurant was closed for a private party. But you know what, I know they all glanced into the room looking for tables, and yet not one showed any sign that they figured us all out! Some of the girls who have only been out to group fucntions and not into real public noticed that no one noticed, and I think that was a very big confidence booster for them.

After dinner, Mary arrived with Andrea and they joined the party. Then there was a lot of pictures being taken, casual "happy snaps" and the ussual more formal group pictures. I realy need to get a digital camera soon:-(

Standing: Edwina, Angela, Ardra, Martina, Annette, Lisa, Natalie & Sabrina
Sitting: Shandi, Christine, Donna, Mary, Vanessa, Andrea
(Two are real girls! Can you guess who??)

After dinner, we decided to go to Club 200 for a while. By now it was 10:30, but we still wanted "girl time"*S*. I left and walked with Natalie toward our vehicles, then stood on the street corner, at Main St., and St. Mary Ave., in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, and just stood there talking. It felt so normal, to be dressed like that, in heels and a mini skirt, talking before going our separate ways. Cars and people passing and no one paying any attention other than cassual glances, and the ussual "check her out" looks *S*.

Thanks for reading my story,
